Rangehood Tamer Installation Tips

Before You Buy

Rangehood Tamer has been designed to work with most canopy rangehoods that have a duct outlet of 150mm diam. but it,s important that it will fit into the flue cover. The flue cover must be at least 210mm wide. If the duct outlet is 125mm in diameter youll need to use a reducer.

Silencer

Rangehoods do differ from model to model and outlets vary. Rangehood Tamer has been designed to be adaptable so that it can be used by most outlets. However it might be necessary to fix the silencer to the outlet with strong fire resistant duct tape to ensure it is held firmly in place. In all cases we advise that duct tape should be used to ensure an airtight seal.

Soffit Kit (Regular)

The regular silencer is designed for ceiling heights of up to 2.4m. The silencer sits over the outlet vent of the rangehood as described above. The aluminised duct fits into the outlet of the muffler and must be cut to length before being secured over the outlet vent spigot. Be sure to pull the duct tight but be careful not to damage it. Fire resistant duct tape should be used to secure the joints at each end.

Soffit Kit (Long)

The longer silencer is designed for high ceiling heights of 2.7m and over. The silencer is secured over the rangehood outlet vent as described above. The aluminised duct fits into the outlet of the muffler and must be cut to length before being secured over the outlet vent spigot. Be sure to pull the duct tight but very careful not to damage it. Fire resistant duct tape should be used to secure the joints at each end.

Roof Kit

The silencer is secured over the rangehood outlet vent as described above. A duct joiner fits into the silencer outlet and the semi-rigid duct fits into the joiner. The steel duct protrudes through the roof and is capped by the roof cowl. The semi-rigid duct connects the silencer to the steel pipe. Fire resistant duct tape should be used to secure all the joints.

Important Note

Although Rangehood Tamer has been designed for to be as straightforward as any rangehood ducting installation by a competent DIYer, always seek help if you are not sure about any aspect of the work involved.
